Run Your Own Race In Life– Strive to be the best that you can and don’t be envious of what others have and you don’t. It’s only a competition if you let it be.” Helen Simpson
Do you find yourself caught up in the rat race? Defined as any exhausting, unremitting, and usually competitive activity or routine. Especially a pressured urban working life spent trying to get ahead with little time left for leisure, contemplation, etc. We all find ourselves getting caught up from time to time. We compare ourselves to others and working long days into the nights. There’s less time for family or friends and even sometimes there’s an experience of burn out or catching a sickness from pure exhaustion.
Creating A Happy Balance
Awareness is the first step to creating any change. One of my mentors, a client, friend and someone who also happens to be listed in the Fortune 500 wealthiest people in the world, gave me this lesson, “There will always be someone who has more than you. It’s a fact of life. You, Steve Jordan (fill in your name here) have to do your best. And give your best.” I hear him sharing this lesson and it reminds me to live by my own standards and do my best.
Life, God willing, can be long. You’ll face many challenges along the way. Don’t make it harder by comparing yourself to others.
Running Your Race In Life
Life is also filled with positive lessons, breakthroughs, successes, and special moments that will ultimately lead you to a destination. Find your purpose in all the good and the bad. Don’t expect the purpose to jump out at you. It’s often underneath your nose, but you have to be open to receiving it.
Most, if not all challenges you will encounter will test your courage, strength, and faith. You will have to choose the path of right and wrong. Staying on the right path is hard. There’s lots of temptation. Often time obstacles become blessings in disguise.
Throughout this awesome adventure of life, you’ll get advice from friends and family. When it all comes down to it, you must be the one to do what you feel is right for you. I suggest following your heart and your intuition. Most importantly never have any regrets for the decisions you’ve made. Don’t hold back. Give it everything you got. Say what you want to say, and do what you want to do. Because sometimes you won’t get a second chance to say or do what we should have the first time around.
Enjoy your race of life and I’ll see you at the top!
