Egg-Which Open-Faced Sandwich
There are more 100,000’s books on diets and cookbooks to choose from. It can be confusing and challenging to pick the right one for your likes and goals. However, eating the right foods is essential to have optimal health and fitness. So where do you begin? I’ve got a suggestion.
Eating for a healthy and fit lifestyle doesn’t require a lot of money, secrets of Hollywood celebrity dietitians or enduring a grueling restrictive diet that even a sadist would find impossible. It’s true what they say, “What seems too good to be true usually is.” Eating for health and fitness means listening to that little voice inside your head that knows what healthy and fit foods generally look like. They’re fresh, recognizable in nature and colorful and they are not prepackaged, processed or have a long shelf life. One of my favorite quotes I impart to my clients that will make this easy to remember is: “If it wasn’t here 500 years ago, don’t consume it!” 500 years ago our ancestors relied on the foods from “mother earth”, the ocean, the sun, and rain.
This advice may not fit so well with our on-demand culture today, where we want results now and instant gratification be it when we want to eat or weight loss, but it’s without question a necessity if you want a healthy and fit program that works for the long run. That means a diet that’s nutritious and delicious, but one that will take a bit of planning and commitment from you. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!” Another one of my favorite quotes.
So here’s a sample meal that I made for myself with some simple ingredients I had in the refrigerator. You can use some, all of or even substitute something else for your liking.
